The musician and man behind Mains has reworked the classic style to mark the 50th anniversary of the Kick Hi boot, which takes place next year.

Skepta, whose real name is Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr., has reimagined the classic Kick Hi style in different colors and created a new Kick Mule which is lined with faux fur. The latter nods to the colorful, Muppet-y faux fur hats in his season 2 collection.

The Kickers x Mains Kick Hi features dual branding and comes in three styles: white leather with white details; dark green leather with off-white accents; and a debossed snake pattern on black and gray leather with off-white details.

They retail at 160 pounds, or around $200.

The Kick Mule is a new slip-on style made with premium soft leather and faux fur details. It also features the brands’ logos and comes in tan nubuck; dark red leather with a vintage feel; and black leather with contrasting off-white details. They retail at 200 pounds, or around $250.

The shoes will drop in June 2025, and be available through both brands’ online stores and retailers.

The styles made their debut during the Mains show at London Fashion Week, and also feature in the new campaign, which was photographed on the streets of Lagos, Nigeria, Skepta’s hometown.

Mains originally launched in 2017, but was later put on hold. Skepta revived it in 2023 with the support of partner Puma, and plans to start selling direct-to-consumer in the coming months.

He’s still working closely with head designer Mikey Pearce, and is involved in everything from the conception of the collection to the castings, marketing and celebrity wrangling.

The collection that showed in September was filled with tailoring, leather and denim, and channeled Skepta’s love of fashion and desire to dress up and show off when he was at school. He also brought in references from ’90s raves, anime and the West End production of “Matilda.”

Skepta says he’s designing for people who want to dress up for a night on the town.

“What I want to do is take fashion back to music. I want to start doing raves where you’re only allowed in with shoes, so that people will start dressing up again. Not getting dressed was what killed the rave,” he told FN’s sister publication WWD in September.

Skepta added that one of his favorite moments is when he sees his friends come to his London studio and try on the clothes and say, “‘Where are we going?’ I want people to feel that as soon as they put these clothes on, they’ll want to go out and express themselves,” he said.

Ugg’s Latest Palace Collab Updates the Tasman and Classic Ultra Mini With Intricate Embroidery https://footwearnews.com/shoes/mens-footwear/ugg-palace-tasman-classic-ultra-mini-embroidery-release-info-1234736647/ Mon, 02 Dec 2024 17:00:26 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1234736647 Ugg and Palace have come together for their latest tie-up.

Launching on Dec. 6, the latest collaboration between the Deckers Brands-owned label and the London-based skateboard brand updates Ugg’s Tasman mule and, for the first time, the Classic Ultra Mini.

The two footwear styles are updated this go around with an intricate multi-layered embroidery that features a large tiger and a mountain along with Palace branding motifs.

Along with these two shoe models, the collaboration also includes the first-ever Ugg Palace jacket, which is made of soft suede with shearling lining and features embroidered details on the arms, exposed shearling trims and edges, and Palace’s intertwined “P” logo in shearling on the back. Rounding out the collection is the Ugg Palace bucket hat, and Ugg Palace tote bag.

According to Ugg, the newest collaboration will come to life through a series of social first images and videos that take the consumer inside the mind of Palace skateboarder, Lucien Clarke, where he is seen experiencing the new collaboration through a surreal journey that spotlights the details of the collection.

This latest drop follows the duo’s release in November 2023 with a pair of trendy Tasman slip-ons. Available in either brown or olive, the drop featured the low-cut cozy model covered in a lively mix of embroidered patches. A baby devil, bomb-wielding duck, and smiling frog are among the characters, with a peace sign and yin-yang symbol thrown in for good measure.

In October 2023, Palace gave the Tasman a quieter makeover through wavy, layered paneling in brown and blue color-blocking. Their debut collaboration with Ugg in March saw the Classic Short Boot take on lightning bolts across the upper and a lightning boot on the heel in black and brown.

Styles from the latest Ugg Palace collaboration will be available at select Palace stores and online at PalaceSkateboards.com in North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East on Dec. 6 and in Japan, and Korea on Dec 7. Shoppers can also explore the collection in person at a one-day pop-in at the Ugg Shanghai store on Dec. 7.

Grenson and Craig Green’s Collaboration Gives Stuffy British Style a Cool Update https://footwearnews.com/shoes/mens-footwear/grenson-craig-green-oxford-shoe-collaboration-details-1234735037/ Fri, 29 Nov 2024 11:00:00 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1234735037 Once championed by posh Oxford academics and English dandies, Grenson and Craig Green’s spiffy upcoming collaboration give Oxford brogues a cool new look. Reworked with punchy clips, studs and poppers, the triple welt shoes will be released on Dec. 5.

“Craig is possibly the UK’s most respected menswear designer over the last decade and we are very proud to have worked with him for most of that time,” said Tim Little, Grenson’s creative director and chief executive officer.

“For our 10 year anniversary, Craig designed a beautiful triple welt that showcases both his incredible creativity and Grenson shoe making heritage in equal measure,” he added.

The revamped Oxfords celebrate British heritage and craftsmanship, made in Grenson’s Northamptonshire, England factory using polished Bookbinder leather stitched, punched, and gimped. The shoes will be released in two color ways, black and chocolate brown

“Working with Grenson over the past decade has been an absolute privilege. Their consistent dedication to craftsmanship and innovation continues to inspire me,” said designer Craig Green, MBE.

The shoes debuted at Craig Green’s spring 2025 show, which was a loving tribute to the designer’s father, who had died recently.

The show highlighted the bonds between father and child and the expectations that each has of the other. The result was a blend of masculine and feminine, with nods to rugby, cars and grown-up clothes in a palette full of pastels, loose shapes and layers.

Lucchese and Nick Fouquet Celebrate Second Collection With Josh Duhamel & More [PHOTOS] https://footwearnews.com/gallery/lucchese-nick-fouquet-collection-boots-photos/ Wed, 20 Nov 2024 22:52:55 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?post_type=pmc-gallery&p=1234733225 A celebration was held on Nov. 19 in honor of the second collaborative collection between footwear brand Lucchese and designer Nick Fouquet. Their second collaboration inspired by the American West included two drops, one on Oct. 4 and one on Nov. 1. Josh Duhamel and more guests came out to celebrate the joint endeavor, which includes cowboy boots and accessories. The first drop featured the $1495 patchwork Calico Boot inspired by the 1970s, among other products; one item from the second drop is the $1695 Hawk Moon Boot featuring Python detailing.

In an official press release dated Oct. 5, Fouquet said, “This collection is very personal. It has so much of my soul in it and that’s reflected in the styles. I really strived for timelessness.” He continued, “I referenced some old movies and was listening to a lot of old country albums. To me, it was paramount to get into the archives and history of the brand on a granular level. In the end, the essence is adventure, the places we go with our boots and the stories we remember on our journeys.”

Bluemarble’s New Odyssey Boots Can Transform Into Slippers https://footwearnews.com/shoes/mens-footwear/bluemarble-launches-odyssey-boot-release-info-1234733142/ Wed, 20 Nov 2024 20:15:25 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1234733142 All products and services featured are independently chosen by editors. Parisian menswear brand Bluemarble has launched a new out-of-this-world shoe for fall – the Odyssey Boot.

First spotted on the brand’s fall 2024 runway show during Paris Fashion Week Men’s in January, the new boot style is an engineering feat. Taking cues from the design of moon boots, the Odyssey Boot aims to redefine explorer footwear with a unique detachable upper that’s adorned with hiking-inspired trim. This removable feature, the brand noted, allows the wearer to transform the boot into a slipper, for the ultimate two-in-one shoe.

Available in earthy brown and metallic silver colorways, the overall space-inspired design features a textured black crepe sole and an interior that is lined with faux shearling. Plus, the upper section, which is made of faux leather in the silver colorway and suede in the brown colorway, is laced to the lower part with D-ring eyelets.

Anthony Alvarez, founder and creative director of Bluemarble told FN that the new boots are the result of wanting to create a shoe that “transcend the bounds of Earth.”

“Inspired by the spirit of Apollo 11, the boot reflects humanity’s drive towards space as is an invitation to exploring the boundless possibilities of our collective journey into the unknown,” Alvarez said. “It’s a unique crossover between a funky slip-on and a hiking boot. We wanted to create a shoe that pairs innovation with comfort, giving adventurers a versatile base for any terrain, whether here on Earth or among the stars.”

Bluemarble’s new Odyssey Boots, which retail between 590 euros and 690 euros, can be purchased on Bluemarbleparis.com and at selected retailers worldwide.

This launch comes just months after Bluemarble debuted a shoe collaboration with Italian footwear company Diemme. The shoes, which launched in March, first debuted during the Bluemarble spring 2024 season runway show in June 2023. For this tie-up, Bluemarble continued its convertible footwear idea with Diemme’s Maggiore shoe, which featured hiking eyelets and an exaggerated tongue that can be worn with the shoe or removed.

And more shoes are on the way from the Paris-based brand. In its spring/summer 2025 show in June, the company debuted the all-new Bluemarble loafer. Described as “polished by punk,” the style features a turned-over tongue, metal coils and a signature plaque along the heel – in patina-effect brown, ivory and crimson colorways.

Jacques Solovière Releases Holiday Footwear Edit With Steve González https://footwearnews.com/shoes/mens-footwear/jacques-soloviere-steve-gonzalez-holiday-footwear-edit-1234732763/ Tue, 19 Nov 2024 21:32:13 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1234732763 Jacques Solovière Paris has teamed up once again with creative director and storyteller Steve González on a curated capsule collection.

According to the French footwear company, the 10-piece edit celebrates its “most iconic silhouettes” for the holiday season. Highlights of the edit include the Edouard Nuance derby in a grey patina and the Jo Black grained calf leather Mary-Jane-esque loafer.

Other styles on offer include the Hervé in black patent, Serge Bicolor in calf leather and the Jacques New Grosgrain in champagne, black and navy. The special edit, which retails between $296 and $452, is now available for pre-order. Orders will ship on Nov. 28, the brand said.

For González, the collaboration with Jacques Solovière is one of love. “I love footwear, it’s the perfect way to communicate a whole idea, a whole feeling, in what you wear” he told FN at a preview of the collection on Tuesday. “I actually discovered the brand on the United Arrows website, but the shoes were sold out. That’s when I started getting into it.”

González noted that he started working with Jacques Solovière on edited collections two years ago after meeting the founder and designer Alexia Aubert at the Pitti Uomo menswear trade show in Florence, Italy. “Our partnership is really all about the quality that Jacques Solovière has, and the timeless designs and elegance it represents,” Gon said. “It’s been a lot of fun to work with the brand – they have such a uniqueness to them.

As for what’s next for the partnership, González teased that he’s working on a co-designed silhouette for next year. “I went to school for design, so I definitely have an interest in the space. I will also be releasing some apparel next year too for another project.”

Founded in 2014 by Aubert, Jacques Solovière Paris offers a range of classic men’s footwear for the modern man. The collection can be found in retailers like Todd Snyder, Venspace, Jake and Jones, Glasswing, Huckberry and Mohawk General Store.

In an interview with FN in 2019, Aubert explained the name of the brand as she celebrated five years  in business. The brand was originally just Solovière, but she added the “Jacques” so the brand bears the full name of her grandfather who inspired it. Jacques Solovière was a trailblazer for today’s marketeers, running a successful branding agency in the 1950s and ’60s.

The idea behind the addition is to generate a more emotional response, she said. “I wanted to give the brand more humanity and personality.”

Pharrell’s New Dog-Inspired Louis Vuitton Men’s Collection Includes Dalmatian Print Shoes and a $60,000 Kennel Trunk https://footwearnews.com/shoes/mens-footwear/louis-vuitton-pharrell-mens-shoe-collection-pre-spring-2025-1234726822/ Thu, 31 Oct 2024 18:42:20 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1234726822 Pharrell Williams is back with his latest men’s collection for Louis Vuitton, and this time, it’s for the dogs.

According to the French luxury house, the spring/summer 2025 men’s pre-collection by Williams is an ode to “the cosmopolitan culture of dogs and the humans that walk them.” The offering in this collection is “a study of the discerning mentality of the canine-keeping city lifestyle,” the company added in a release on Thursday.

As for the collection’s shoes, Williams adapted elements of the dog’s wardrobe into an array of eye-catching details. Standout styles include the LV Trainer Maxi that’s rendered in bright green tennis-ball suede as well as Dalmatian-print ponyskin, a motif echoed in the intarsia shearling of an LV Footprint low boot.

Other dog-gone styles include a Dog Collar Loafer in black or burgundy glazed leather that’s adorned with a metal dog-collar buckle, and the return of the Mary-Jane that features aged leather with stud adornment inspired by those of dog collars and a Damier-infused LV Checker sole.

There’s also the brand’s signature LV Trainer in a reworked version in brown, black or white ultra-supple vintage-effect leather with a deconstructed sensibility, alongside a new lighter and more technical version of the LV Runner Tatic inspired by hiking.

Plus, there’s a loafer in black glazed leather with a necklace-inspired buckle and the Western-inspired LV Rider boot that features pull-on straps embellished with gold-toned studs and a heel that’s accessorized with three monogram flower motifs.

Alongside the collection’s shoe offering is a range of apparel, bags and accessories that range all the way from a $60,000 kennel trunk to the $5,400 Pooch bag in the shape of a cute canine friend.

Consumers interested in seeing the full offering in person can check it out at Louis Vuitton’s pop-up shoe at 104 Prince Street in SoHo. Open now through early December, the space has been transformed into an homage of all things canine using the dress codes of dog shows, a tradition informed by English heritage sports.

According to the brand, New York City is the only location globally with a dedicated spring/summer 2025 men’s pre-collection pop-up, and it offers the full breadth of the collection including dog accessories and rare dog-centric hardsided pieces as well as the option to engrave personalized dog tags.

Birkenstock and Union LA’s Chris Gibbs Blend the Boston and Zurich Clogs Into New Hybrid Shoe https://footwearnews.com/shoes/mens-footwear/birkenstock-union-bimshire-clogs-release-info-1234725525/ Mon, 28 Oct 2024 17:29:58 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1234725525 All products and services featured are independently chosen by editors. However, Footwear News may receive a commission on orders placed through its retail links, and the retailer may receive certain auditable data for accounting purposes.

Birkenstock has joined forces with LA-based menswear store Union.

Created by Union LA owner and creative director Chris Gibbs, the new style combines features from his favorite perennial Birkenstock styles — the Boston and Zurich. Dubbed the “Bimshire,” the hybrid clog arrives just in time for the 60th anniversary of the Zurich silhouette.

Natural leather straps envelope the top layer of the style, weaving through Birkenstock’s classic buckles made with a specialized fabric-feel treatment. Below, a panel in tonal canvas is trimmed with French piping and finished with a round, classic suede toe. The anatomically shaped footbed is covered in nappa leather, tinted in Union’s signature orange.

Designed in desert tones of grey, taupe and sandy pink, the Bimshire is named after the island of Barbados, paying homage to Gibbs’ Bajan roots.

“It’s a dream come true to be working with Birkenstock; a brand that I have been wearing damn near since before I hit puberty,” Gibbs said in a statement. “For a long time I was even teased for wearing ‘chancletas‘, so it’s also super refreshing to see our community evolve.”

The Birkenstock x Union collaboration will pre-launch on Oct. 29 at Union retail stores and online at store.unionlosangeles.com. The global launch will follow on Nov. 7 at 1774.com, select Birkenstock locations and select retailers worldwide.

The new collection is part of Birkenstock’s 1774 division, which is dedicated to special projects and collaborations. Past collaborators for Birkenstock 1774 include Rick Owens, Filson, Stüssy, Concepts, Tekla and Fear of God.

This launch is the latest product release in Birkenstock’s post-IPO growth model. In September, Birkenstock relaunched its “Give a Damn” collection with Lingua Franca. This was the second release of the collection after nearly four years. Ten percent of proceeds from each pair sold was donated directly to the Surfrider Foundation.

In August, Birkenstock debuted the new Birki Flow water-resistant clog that takes inspiration from the German footwear brand’s original vented clog from 1995. According to Birkenstock, the lifestyle-inspired iteration of its professional clog is engineered for post-sport recovery, rest days and any occasion in between.

In May, the footwear brand released the Birki Air 2.0, a ventilated clog remastered from the brand’s original Birki Air from the mid-90s. The updated style features a new technical design featuring orthopedic functions created specifically for those working in industries including healthcare, hospitality and more.

The focus on product comes as Birkenstock continues to see revenues increase since becoming a public company last year. In August, the 250-year-old German footwear company reported revenue increased 19 percent in the third quarter to 565 million euros, up from 473 million at the same time last year.
