Brooks has tapped Extra Butter to have some fun with the Cascadia 18, the latest iteration of its longest-running trail running franchise.

The Extra Butter x Brooks Cascadia 18 sees splash graphics take the sneaker’s upper. A tonal blue and grey look defines the collaboration from midsole up to its tongue, with the print-dyed upper given reshaped overlays that include a big, splashy toe cap. The top and bottom of the sneaker is taken over by a can’t-yellow look, as green irregularly dots the outsole and the tongue hosts an equatic Extra Butter logo. Mismatched insole branding then makes use of the standard Extra Butter mark on the right shoe.

Among the repeated cries of running being the new streetwear, Extra Butter gives Brooks some credibility in the world while reimagining a trail shoe with a look inspired by the puddles you’ll see on cement.

Brooks launched the Cascadia 18 earlier in the summer, and though it looks a lot like its predecessor and utilizes much of the same tech, it’s drawn better reviews than the Cascadia 17. DNA Loft v2 foam is used for the midsole, and an adaptable plate is part of the Trail Adapt system focussing on stability. A TrailTack Green outsole is made of at least 25 percent recycled materials and is designed for gripping uneven surfaces.

The Extra Butter x Brooks Cascadia 18 is out now through the sneaker boutique’s website and stores and will be followed Monday, August 19, by another drop on Brooks’ site. Pricing is set at $150 and sizing is available for both men and women.
