Last year, Adidas introduced its Dreamstrike+ foam as part of a revamp for its Supernova running franchise. The Supernova Rise was the first sneaker to hit the market with the new compound, and it’s now the first to get the 2.0 treatment.
The Adidas Supernova Rise 2 features an updated formula for its Dreamstrike+ foam midsole to provide even more comfort than its predecessor. A redesigned engineered mesh upper helps reduce weight by 4 percent and is headlined by a reconfigured heel with a foam collar optimized for comfort and stability. Making its return is the Support Rods system, which makes use of a denser foam to encourage a smooth transition from heel to toe, as well as stability. The Adiwear outsole, too, remains unchanged.
Like the first Supernova Rise, the second has been designed with women in mind first and foremost. An average women’s pair weighs 228 grams, and a stack height of 34mm features a 10mm drop.
“When developing the Supernova Rise 2, we wanted to bring everything that our running community loved about its predecessor while adding new features that double down on the franchise’s comfort-driven goal, JT Newcomb, category director for Adidas Running Footwear, said in a press release. Thanks to the revamped upper, the Supernova Rise 2 is 4 percent lighter than its predecessor, providing the best daily running experience to all, mile after mile.”
For its launch, the Supernova Rise 2 will come in a navy and white “Quartz” colorway with purple and seafoam accents for women. The men’s “Orbit Grey” launch colorway then comes in a darker navy to go along with white and two lighter shades of blue.
The Supernova Rise 2 will release December 3 through Adidas’ website and stores, as well as third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $140.
